Is there any difference in chat between the expressions dainty to meet you and dainty meeting you lot , like for example one of them being more appropiate for the moment you first introduce yourself and the other for when you say farewell afterwards meeting somebody?
Thank you for your help in advance

Welcome, bercam. :hi:

Nowadays participles (e.g., meeting) express that an activity is taking place - that information technology's been actualized, whereas infinitives (e.chiliad., to see) express that an activeness hasn't happened nevertheless - information technology'due south unactualized. That's why "to run across" is used equally a greeting and "meeting" as a farewell,

[1] Nice to meet you. <introduction>
[ii] Overnice meeting you lot. <closing>

Hope that helps. :-D

Welcome, bercam. :how-do-you-do:

[ane] Overnice to meet you lot. <introduction>
[2] Dainty coming together y'all. <closing>

A similar stardom continues to apply after the coming together - even though you might remember that, as the meeting has actually taken place, the gerund would always exist more than appropriate.

In an email after the meeting you could say either
1 Information technology was great to meet you
or
2 Information technology was great meeting you

1 suggests an emphasis on the length of dealing with them by mail service and non coming together face up-to-face up: 'It was nifty to meet you at concluding.'
2 puts the emphasis on the actual meeting: 'It was great coming together you and discussing the photos.' The accent again is on actuality.

If someone say this to me, what should I say them dorsum? Answer for "Overnice to meet you lot".

Cheers
Sai

I'd say "Me too".:-D

That's considering I think it's such a "formal greeting", not a "real feeling of having met someone you lot like". Therefore when somebody tells you "Nice to meet you", you wouldn't definetely say anything which could seem negative in the same manner equally a reply.

That'south because I think it's such a "formal greeting", not a "real feeling of having met someone you like". Therefore when somebody tells you lot "Overnice to meet you", you wouldn't definetely say anything which could seem negative in the same way as a reply.

I don't fully agree with you dipizz. 'Me also' would be a suitable response to for example, 'I'm and so glad to see yous again'. For the response to be 'me too' the subject of the preceding sentence should be 'I'. The subject of 'Nice to meet you' is 'information technology' but it's usually dropped.
Later on 'Overnice to meet yous' I would say something similar 'Nice to come across you lot' (with accent on 'you'). Alternatively: 'I've heard and then much about yous'.
E'er heard of 'Aforementioned hither'?
Ex: A :'I've been looking frontward to meeting y'all'
B: 'Aforementioned here (= Me too)'.
